Up to 102-story of the Empire State Building was built in the30’s of the 20th century, during the Great Depression. This is a giant Art Deco architecture construction made of concrete. There are many offices and restaurants in the Empire State Building. And many tourists come here to appreciate the spectacular views of Manhattan. This landmark building with a long history now is undergoing tremendous changes. The owners of the Empire State Building said the project of renovating the building will reduce energy consumption by 38%, and will be completed in 2013. Although the budget of renovation is 20 million US dollars, the energy consumption of buildings can save 44 million US dollars every year. |

Gwanggyo in Seoul, South Korea: a self-sufficiency green city
“Gwanggyo” dream city designed by architectural design company MVRDV of Netherland is a new concept self-sufficiency green city located 35 miles south of Seoul, South Korea. The construction mode is "hill terraces", and each hill-shaped building contains housing, Office area, squares and shopping malls, museums and leisure areas. All building roofs and platform will also string together into an ecological park, so that it not only can improve the regional climate and ventilation, but also reduces the consumption of energy and water. Each "hill" is surrounded by vegetation and around the circulation system between floors will store the water as daily watering. It is expected to accommodate 77,000 people and complete the envisaged development in 2011. |

The building completed by Robert Matthew Johnson Marshall (RMJM) construction design company is up to 396 meters.
