In order to explore the history of Cangxi Kiwi planting, we interviewed the staff in the Institute of Kiwi, they said that Cangxi County was one of the first artificial cultivation region and the country to cultivate the mostnew varieties with a long history of planting.

In 1978, the Kiwi (most of them are red kiwi) resources survey found, a large number of wild kiwifruits were distributedin the northern mountainous area ofCangxi County. Ecological system composed of unique soil, water, climate became Kiwi paradise around 255 sq km, which was identified as Kiwi best suitable area of Kiwi by experts.

In the 1990s, through years of research, the Institute of Kiwi in Cangxi has bred rhesus Sichuan No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and new concept of No. 2 five new varieties, and in the century they gave birth to a world of rare red fleshed kiwifruit new varieties - Hongyang, Honghua, Hongmei and other red kiwi, which were identified as the third generation of kiwifruit preferred varietiesby domestic and foreign experts unanimously, and opening new chapter of a world red kiwifruit planting.
