We ask Buddha Jianyang to tell us something that has influence on his growth.

He says that he was born in a small village named “Wali”in Tibetan language, 12km away from Guide County in Qinghai Province. The tibetan name of the village means cattle”. Every family raises cattle in his hometown, because cattle is induistrious and willing to help people, which is liked by all the people. His parents often educate him to learn from cattle. He has deep affections on cattle which has influence on his whole life.

After his graduation from primary at 12, he cannot further his studies due to the backward conditions in his hometown. He had to do agricultural work. At that time, he has realized the importance of study. Due to poor conditions of his family, he cannot enter school although he has been admitted by Normal School for three times. He worked as a teacher in Dongshan Primary School for ten years from 18. He likes reading and often borrows books from the library in the county. He went to study in Senior Institute of Buddhism of China where he researched on different sects, astronomy and calendar. In June, 1992, he graduated and went back to his hometown. He thinks that study plays very important role in people’s life and you should study tonight even if you would die the next morning.

His teachers also have great influence on him. He says that his parents give him the body while his teachers build his soul. Besides knowledge, his teachers teach him religions and the norms of behavior, which is invaluable to him. He will remember his teachers for ever and owe gratitude to them. He tells us people should respect their teachers.
