| Miao people are one of the largest ethnic minorities in southwest China. On the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and in some remote mountainous areas, Miao villages are comprised of a few families, and are scattered on mountain slopes and plains with easy access to transport links. Much of the Miao area is hilly or mountainous, and is drained by several big rivers. The weather is mild with a generous rainfall, and the area is rich in natural resources. | ||

The Miao people have a long history in music and dance. They are fond of playing the Lusheng dance, with very high skills. The original ethnic dance is the reflection of ancestor's living situation. As Miao's ancestors mainly lived in remote mountain area, their dances were mainly about the blessing and religious belief. It showed their respect to God and life. Most of the dance moves simulated animal forms, the most popular Pavaner, elephant foot encouraging. Their dance is compared to a vivid historical record. |
