Q: What is the most ancient building in Ta’er Lamasery?
A: After Tsongkhapa went to Tibet for studying Buddhism, his mother
missed him very much. And Tsongkhapa sent a student to bring his
portrait and statues of roaring lions to his mother.
Q: What are the main constructions in Ta’er Lamasery?
A: The main buildings are Dajinwa Hall, Sutra Hall, Nine-room
Hall, Hua Hall, Xiaojinwa Hall, Mizong School, Medical School,
Shilun School, Panchen Palace, Butter Sculpture Hall, Big Kitchen
and Babao Pagoda.
Q: What do the monks in Ta’er Lamasery typically eat?
A: They have Zanba, a kind of paste food roasted barley flour,
boiled mutton, rice mixed with date and butter and steamed bun
stuffed with beef and mutton.
Q: What are the sects of Tibetan Buddhism?
A: After 10th century, Tibetan Buddhism was separated into Nyingma
Sect, Sagya Sect, Gatang Sect, Gagyu Sect and Gelug Sect. Gelug
Sect that was derived from Gatang Sect has become a main sect.
Because the monks of the sect wear yellow hats, it is also called
Yellow Sect.
