Butter sculpture
display hall
The
huge and modern hall was built in 1989. Inside of it the butter
sculptures made in every Lamp Festivals are displayed. These sculptures
have many themes like people, flower, mountains, constructions,
animals and Buddhist story, palace and pillars. These artworks
impress all the tourists very much.
Hufa Hall
Hufa Hall, built
on a slope later than Xiaojinwa Hall, covers the area of 758.17㎡.
In the center niche is enshrined with statue of Buddhist Protector.
It is said some weird signs appeared when making the statue. In
the niches on both sides are enshrined with statues of Buddha.
There is a big bell in the Hall, with the making date and characters
meaning long ruling, peace and wealth cast on it. In the center
of the court are two iron censors with making date in Chinese
and Tibetan language. There is a Buddhist flag pole symbolizing
the status of the hall in the court.
Longevity Hall
Longevity Hall,
in front of Xiaojinwa Hall, was built in 1717(Qing Dynasty) for
then 9-year old 7th Dalai born in Litang Sichuang Province. After
the building is finished, 7th Dalai hold a ceremony of Giving
Light, a form of Buddhist blessing, in which a Master access the
spiritual light within himself and shares it with a person or
thing and scattered Jixianghua(flowers of happiness). So the hall
is also called Flower Hall.
The Hall is enshrined with statues of Sakyamuni, 16 Arhats and
4 Warriors Protecting Buddha. On the right side of it is Mountain
Deity Hall where a lot of pilgrims burn incense and pray. There
are two steles, one made in 1720 (Qing Dynasty) and the other
in 1922(Republic of China). Two inscribed horizontal boards are
hung over Longevity Hall.
Several sandalwoods are growing in the court, with flourish leaves
and scenting the air. It is said that the trees grew after Zongkapa’s
mother threw afterbirth.
Under one sandalwood there is a long slate on which it is said
Zongkapa’s mother rested after carrying water. The adherents smear
ghee and offer coins on it. They worship it so much that in their
minds it has become a holy item that can exorcise and bring good
luck.
