The Wengyu road stretches 20 kilometers. It was the only mountain road for people to pass to the Shangluo of Shaanxi and Northern Hubei before the Hualuo Road in Dafuyu built in 1958.

Xu Xiake, a great traveler in Ming Dynasty, highly praised for the Wengyu’s best mountain scenery in his diary “The tour of Taihua Mountain”. He wrote that: Wengyu is the 3rd valley at the west of Hua Mountain. Mountains both sides are towering up, the valley seems narrow in which the river flows fast. The trail in valley, now turning eastwards, now turning westwards. Facing the Jagged mountains, walkers seem to walk in the teeth gap and like rowing boat on the river. Since ancient times, the dwellings in villages had been built at the wide hinterland of valley hill. Keep staying in the mountains, with the lamb, and stopped work at sunset, generations enjoy their wonderful lifestyles.。
