The Two Estuaries Country was located in the north of Tongjiang Town.

On the early morning on December 17, 1932, the 217 regiment (advance force) of 73 division of the Red Army, in the head of Hung Meitian, the division commander, Wen Shengshi, the political committee member, they started from southern Shaanxi and after a two-day forced march; they crossed the "Bashan natural barrier". On December 18, they occupied the territory of Two Estuaries Country within Tongjiang Town in the border of Sichuan-Shaanxi border. One company of the enemy garrison fled after hearing the news. The large forces of the Red Army immediately arrived. The main force entered Nixi field on the 21st and formally pointed out the slogan of "Red Army stop to transfer and create base area in the northern Sichuan," which meant to establish Soviet power in Nixi Field, which set up a foundation for the expansion of the base area.
