In the vast desert with adverse circumstances, Shi Shuzhu, Wang Yinji and other six old men devote all their life to the harnessing of the sand which is considered by them as their great pleasure. Although they harness the sand in different places, they share the similar experiences such as digging holes and planting trees. Their tenacity makes the desert an oasis and makes the wasteland full of vitality. Their deeds have been praised by the central government as well as people in all walks of life.
