Fengzhan in Langzhong City and white temple and Dragon Mountain in Cangxi County is the birthplace of Lantern Opera which is known as the home of Lantern Opera. During rural harvest season, the artists will light the big red lanterns which are written with "a bumper grain harvest" and "the land yield good harvests and the people enjoy good health" in the field or the yard, playing drums and huqin, then performing funny, lively and extraordinary Lantern Opera. Farmers were taking lanterns and torches to see Lantern Opera in all directions when they saw the red lanterns hanging high. We looked “watching Lantern Opera”, it said that: “no lantern, no dancing, lantern and dancing are blended together. It is so funny that all the people laugh.”

Lantern Opera usually adapts content from folklore and the lives of the working people. Tragedies are less than comedies. Even the sad dramas are also filled with strong comedy colors. Performance is close to life, there are no fixed actions, and it is integrated with Bayu dancing, jugglery, monkey, puppets, shadow, "TiaoDuangong" and other forms. The music derives from the folk song in northern Sichuan, God song, wedding song, Shengyu Yao, and melody is simple, lively and sounds great.
