We felt very lucky because grandpa Liu would like to teach us handwriting hand by hand, which made us happier than enjoying the New Year festival.

 Under Grandpa Liu’s suggestion, we realized that one needs to have strong interest in calligraphy, be gifted, have one’s own thought and never learn for learn if one want to write well. It’s good to join in some study classes, but practicing is still the most important thing.

Grandpa Liu also told us some method for practicing handwriting:

First, watch the copybook carefully to practice your eyes. The more you’ve watched,  the better your vision. And then you will know how to write well and where is good.

Second, practice your brain or heart. Your should keep the copybook of calligraphy on your heart on the basis of careful observation. Keep the words on your brain deeply and you will recall the words’ appearance on the copybook immediately whenever mentioning this words. You should keep the words’ image in the copybook in your heart and mind deeply.

Third, practice. The first and second step are all for understanding how to write.

Forth, it is important to grasp the words’ structure. The words’ structure means the length proportion of word’ strokes and interspersed between the strokes.

Fifth, practice the stroke of words.
