Fortunally we got opportunity to had interview to the alcalde – Li, below is the dialogue between our team and alcalde.
Question: How are you alcalde Li, we knew that you worked at Huang Jia Zhai town for many years; you must know the real living situation of the people here before aluminium factory established, can you please talk about it?
Alcalde Li: Before aluminium factory established, I was just a normal official, I used to go to the country side very often. Average income per one person no more than 400 years, every family lived the house made by mud, and very singularly to find some houses made by brick with wood, so say nothing of mixed brick house. From the cloth, everyone’s cloth with mend except bride; food was very bad, people couldn’t afford to eat pork only except the New Year. Vehicle was drop behind, when wedding, people could only used tractor to take the bride come. When people working on the farm, most they used the ox and horse, only less people used tractor to farming the cropland.
Question: Why people didn’t go out to find some work at that time?
Alcalde Li: One part is because people’s thinking way was drop behind, but most important was there is no any enterprise around, where they could find job? If Qing Hai aluminium company could established few years early, then the people’s living condition should be better than oppidan.
