In 2007 Cyber Fair, our theme is
Tibetan culture in Gui'de County. Although
some students are Tibetan, they are
not familiar with local traditional
customs. In our research, we interview
many local people and get to know their
living style.
Refer to Tibetan tradition, people always
think of Qingke and yak; however, they
are substituted by vast barley and tractors.
Old traditions are mixed with modern
things. In architecture, some live in
Tibetan style, while some live in one-floor
house. Herdsmen never live in camps,
which is a progress in history. In costume,
some wear Tibetan robe, while some wear
fashion clothes. In general, old people
like to keep tradition, youth follow
modern things and Buddhist followers
are stick to religion habits. In diet,
some people eat wheat more than their
traditional food-Zanba and Butter tea,
which is complicated to make. In fuel,
some use cow dung, while some use wheat
straw and mine for cooking. Nowadays,
electronic objects are popular in Tibetan
families.
Though some Tibetan traditions have
become history, we hope to maintain
and pass them over generations. As Tibetan
minority is ancient and mysterious,
we wish to draw more people's attention
to protect Tibetan culture through our
activity.
