Huangyuan County, historically known as Dan ger, locates the source place of the Huang River and the bottom of Sun and Moon Mountain, which is an important connection between Qinghai and Tibet. Its economy gradually rises up by farming since the Han Dynasty.  Through the exchange between tea and horse, the national trading gets its prosperity. It also serves as the main corridor for southern Chinese Silk Way.  During the ruling period of Qianlong emperor and Jiaqing emperor in Qing Dynasty,  Huangyuan County is one of the most important market for Qinghai, Tibet, Gansu and Xinjiang, famously named as trading center around sea. At the end of Qing dynasty, with both foreign firms and cloth companies being established by both foreign and domestic traders, mainly from Tianjin and Beijing,  Dan ger’s economy reach its peak, and enjoy the reputation of “little peking”.
