West China Story

A:school and life B:hometown and people C:activity and communication D:rural life

The West China Story Project is to encourage students to observe customs in their hometown and interview local people in spare time, and then make these stories into web pages.

After implementation for more than one year, more than 7000 stories and 30,000 pictures are made into webpages, published on “westchianstory” platform. Though it seems to be a little drop in the sea, it also reflects the beauty of sunshine. In each region of the world, children have the same innocence and desire to learn. It’s their natural right.

At the beginning of 2008, we edit some children’s work. Although their work can’t be compared to novel or excellent photos, their heart-making web pages is certain to draw people’s attention to their life.

Xi'datan Middle School

Hometown and people

In 2007, 20 students in Xi'datan Middle School participated in West China Story Project. Since Apr 12 of 2007, as many as 110 stories and 463 photos are published on “westchianstory” website. All the web pages are made by the students themselves with the instruction of tutors named Pu Cheng and Cheng Yun in their spare time.

In students'eyes, their hometown is so beautiful. "We live in Xiama, where the mountains are covered with green forests. The rivers are clean, in which the water can be compared to the mineral water sold in the city. The people in our hometown are hospitable. When guest arrive, we will serve them with ghee tea, Zanba, and mutton. We drink Tibetan wine and dance Guozhuang."(By Ma Hongzu)
