Story about Bao Yulin

On august 19, 2005, It was a special day for Bao Yulin that the fate of him was changed quietly.

Bao Yulin, a 16-year-old boy from Hui, lives in Shangbaiya that is a tiny,out-of-the-way village in Dacai Township. There are 5 people in his family, each of whom has farmland of half an acre. His family’s annual income is around 2000RMB earned from the farmland. However, nearly 200RMB is spent on medicine for his father’s gastric ulcer each month.

Bao Yulin, graduated from Dacai Middle School in 2004, is such a good student that he ranked first in his grade each term during his three years of study in Dacai. He is also respectful to teachers and willing to offer help to his schoolmates whenever they have problem on study. All through the three years, he had got good comments from all the teachers and students and was entitled “All-Round Student” of Xi’ning City. On June, 2004, Bao entered Huangzhong Town No.1 High School and was allocated to Class 10 with the result of ranking No.8 out of 800 students in Handong district and listed among top 100 in Huangzhong Town. In the first term, he came to first in all the 4 tests-------2 monthly tests, a middle test and a final test in his class and among the top 10 of the 800 students of the 10th grade. However, this grand term was his last one in high school. In winter vacation of 2004, his father was in hospital, which cost nearly 7000RMB. His family couldn’t support his schooling anymore and he had to stay at home out of filialness. During the period of dropping out, he once tried to work in restaurants and building sites, but nobody would employ him because of his younge age.

On August 19, 2005, Madam Chen Jinqiu, Lan Yuezhu and Ba Taiqing, from Hualian Grow-Up Center and Director Peng Hai from Town and Talent Technology China, Co., Ltd, came to visit Dacai Middle School in Qinghai Province. From the talk with the school, visitors from Hualian Grow-Up Center and Director Peng got to know about the students and the problems and difficulties of the school. Mr.Liu, the school headmaster and Mr.Cao, a teacher, told about Zhao Hongwei who was helped by Madam Lin in the Town and Talent Project of Caring for the West and 30 students who were financed by Mr. Chen Kainan. When talking about the Town and Talent Project of Caring for the West, Mr.Liu thought of Bao Yulin and told Bao’s situation to the visitors who were very touched by his story. Director Peng suggested the school put Bao’s story on the website so as to get aid from the kind people.

Mr. Liu and Mr. Cao both felt very sad for Bao’s dropping out. They had been trying to find a way to help Bao return to school, and Director Peng’s suggestion enlightened him. In the afternoon of that day, Mr. Cao went to Cao’s family 7 miles away from the school. Bao’s parents happened to be at home. Mr. Cao learned Bao’s current situation from his parents and introduced to them the Town and Talent Project of Caring for the West. Bao’s family was very excited and regain hope.

After coming back to school, Mr. Cao publicized Bao’s story on the school’s website http://qh000001.edu.17888.com/ , meanwhile he emailed the story to the regional administrator responsible for schools in Qinghai Province.

On August 22, the first working day after coming back from Dacai Middle School, Director Peng began to inquire of the school about Bao Yulin. Peng was very glad when he was informed that the school had submitted application to the Town and Talent Project of Caring for the West for Bao Yulin and conveyed this to the Hualian Grow-Up Center. When the visitors from the Center got to Taiwan, it was already midnight, but they still tried to get the details about Bao Yulin and made a reply very soon. After discussion, the Hualian Grow-Up Center agreed to finance Bao Yulin to continue his study and entrust Town and Talent company with all the matters concerned.

Town and Talent contacted Mr. Cao immediately for the detail of Bao Yulin’s annual intuition fees in Huangzhong First Middle School and suggested him help Bao to go through the formalities of resuming studies. Mr.Cao was so excited about this that he told Bao’s family as soon as possible and encouraged Bao to study even harder. Bao’s family, especially Bao Yulin was very rejoiced at the good news of being able to return to school he yearned for day and night. Bao Yulin and his father settled the formalities with the help of Mr.Liu and Mr. Cao. Teachers and students of Huangzhong No.1 Middle School were very delighted at Bao’s coming back.

Mr. Cao efficiently gave the information of Bao Yulin’s intuition fees and his returning to school to Town and Talent which instantly informed the Hualian Grow-Up Center that transferred 1,200 RMB to the account of the advisor Zeng of Town and Talent who on August 26 sent the money to Mr. Cao from Dacai Middle School that would keep the money on behalf of Bao Yulin.

It was within only eight days that Bao resumed his study. Because the new term of 10th grade hadn’t begun, after discussion with Bao’s parents, the school made a decision that Bao could study in 11th grade and then return to 10th grade when its new term began.

On September 4, Bao had his first lesson of 10th grade and formally started his high school study.

It was just in a couple of days that Bao’s distress over dropping out had been shaken off and it was like a dream but actually real for Bao Yulin that he could sit in the bright classroom again. Bao Yulin was very grateful for what the Hualian Grow-Up Center and Town and Talen had done for him, and wrote a letter full of his gratitude. He asked Mr. Cao to give the letter to Town and Talent which handed it to the Hualian Grow-Up Center. The kind people from the Center were very delighted of Bao’s improving situation. Town and Talent expressed encouragement to Bao on behalf of Mrs. Xiao from the Center.

In the future, the Hualian Grow-Up Center and Town and Talent will continue their concern about Bao Yulin’s growing-up. The Hualian Grow-Up Center intended to finance him to finish high school. Bao Yulin is believed to have a promising future with the concern of so many kind persons.

Chen Jinqiu, Lan Yuezhu and Ba Taiqing visited Dacai Middle School and talked with Mr.Liu Fagang and Mr. Cao.
