The member schools respond to the plan
Planting Trees and Nurturing Students
Planting
trees is not only the social obligation but makes the students increasingly
conscious of protecting environment and contribution to society. The Arbor
Day on March 12 of each year has makes planting trees a practice of nationwide.
According to the experience in western regions, Town and Talent have
learned that the children there are under heavy mental pressure and lack
of confidence due to their families’ poverty. In addition, they need right
guidance for become persevering and confident instead of blind requests
and demands. Financial aid is likely to improve their study condition
to a certain degree, but more important is that they can grow up healthily.
Thus, Town and Talent promotes the plan of Planting Trees and Nurturing
Students, aiming at helping the western children in material and moral
conduct. Except for aid, the plan is expected to make the students be
aware of the importance of public welfare by means of planting and taking
care of trees in the west. As the students receive help they learn how
to help others. Love will be seeded and grown up in their mind. They will
spread love and help to more people. To nurture and foster the students
by means of planting trees is the original intention of the plan.
The students receiving help take care of the saplings in spare time and
report on the platform Care for the West on yellowsheepriver.com about
their study and the growth of the saplings. On the web, the benefactors
can communicate with students. After graduation, the students can hand
over the trees to their following schoolmates. In addition, if possible,
the school can form a caring team for public welfare. For example, the
students receiving aid in Shunyi Beishicao Middle School patrolled along
the aqueduct during last winter, cleaning up the withered grass and garbage,
propagating protection of water sources and leafleting brochures about
forbidding skating. On March 9, the students receiving aid, led by their
teachers, visited lonely old people in rest home, washing their clothes
and quilt and cleaning the glass and the room. They have enhanced the
consciousness of respecting and loving the senior people and brought happiness,
warmth to them. On March 3, the students in Dacai Middle School came to
the homes of students who didn’t return school. They explained the state’s
policy about the exemption of tuition and persuaded them to go back school.
On March 6, 12 students returned school. Students in Pingle made an investigation
on the environmental pollution and had a detailed report.
